Mylor Creek Boatyard – the home of Cockwells in Cornwall

mylor-creek-boatyardCockwells has been based at Mylor Creek Boatyard, at Mylor Bridge, near Falmouth Cornwall, since 2010.

It's only 10 minutes from the previous Cockwells yard on the Penryn River at Ponsharden. The yard has a wealth of facilities for including a mobile dry-dock facility, heavy-duty slipway, its own sawmill and a wealth of space for working on a wide variety of projects.

For more than 40 years the Mylor yard, at Tregatreath, had been run by the Heard family, most recently by Martin Heard who died in July 2009. Martin, a well-known local figure and a good friend of Dave, had been in negotiations with Dave over the yard when he sadly died.

Negotiations continued with Martin’s estate and the yard finally became Cockwells new home on Christmas Eve 2009 and the team took over in January 2010. Cockwells now operates the moorings, lay-up facilities and other services that might be expected at a lay-up facility.

The Mylor Creek Boatyard benefits from the Cockwells shipwrights who bring the added benefit of providing owners with their traditional boatbuilding skills and handcrafted naval joinery.
