Cockwells Classic Nelson 40'

If you enjoy the lines of the rugged-yet-sleek design of Nelson boats then you will appreciate this classic launch developed by us from a classic Arthur Mursell design.

The Cockwells Classic Nelson 40 is a high quality, comfortable cruising boat with a bespoke interior constructed to the client’s requirements.

The boat can be certified as category B or C under the EU Recreational Craft Directive and will have a top speed of about 24 knots with a comfortable cruising speed of 16 knots and a range of around 250 nautical miles.

As befits a Cockwells launch, the Classic Nelson 40 has a luxuriously appointed fore cabin with two berths with excellent use of space to include hanging space and storage over and under berths, to suit the client’s requirements.

There is an electric head in its own compartment with a shower and hand basin fed by the pressurised onboard water system and an electric head. There is also a fully equipped galley with cooker, sink, microwave and fridge with a dinette opposite that converts into a double berth.

The light and airy, well appointed saloon has comfortable seating for six and the saloon can be converted into an optional sleeping area for two guests, giving a total of six berths.

A sizeable pilot and navigation station offers space for charts and instruments and the joinery and furnishing is bespoke using quality hardwoods and materials to create a style that fulfils the client’s requirements. Low energy LED lighting is used throughout.

The launch is built in strip planked cedar over CNC-cut frames and bulkheads. The hull is sheathed inside and out with glass fibre impregnated with epoxy resin. Externally finished with a two-part paint system.

The deckhouse is joined from solid teak with toughened glass windows and stainless steel trim. The deck is constructed in fully-swept teak with a sub-layer of 12mm marine ply sheathed in epoxy offering increased structural integrity. The Classic Nelson 40 is driven by twin screws powered by diesel Volvo D4 225hp marine engines and is finished off with stunning deck gear made of 316 stainless steel.
