Cockwells Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter returns to Southampton Boat Show 2008

In September 2008 Polly Agatha, the Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter Replica, returns to the Southampton Boat Show with her builders Cockwells and her new owners the charter company, Bowsprit Sailing Ltd both of whom would like to welcome you onboard on berth number 383.

In September 2005, Cockwells courageously journeyed from Cornwall to Southampton towing a part built hull of a 45 foot Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter replica. The boat which was to become Polly Agatha had only her stem and frames as she made her debut appearance at the show but she still managed to impress many as she towered above the stand.

Built as a replica of Peggy (the original built by the Rowles family of Pill in 1904) Polly Agatha has all the charm of a classic Edwardian Cutter combined with a luxurious modern interior and fitted with the latest technology. Her accommodation was designed to the specifications of Bowsprit Sailing making her ideal for both chartering and a sea school - she has 10 berths including a luxuriously appointed master cabin located in the stern with en-suite head and shower. Her ample deck space makes her ideal for corporate charters.

Following the exact lines of Peggy, Cockwells built Polly Agatha in timber using original traditional boat building techniques. The only differences are that bronze screws were used instead of iron and a plywood deck laid with teak was used to increase durability. Polly Agatha is just one example of a bespoke yacht built by Cockwells who are also well known for their Classic Launches. Cockwells will take commissions for bespoke wooden vessels of any specification up to 80 foot.
